GUANGZHOU, China – November 7, 2025 – The inaugural Heartmelting Award – PETSTAR Design Competition, a centerpiece of the second Pet Sourcing Fair China (PSC), successfully concluded on November 7th in Hall 1. The competition, organized by PSC, hosted by the Pet Industry Branch of China Leisure Products Industry Association, co-organized by the Pet Industry Working Committee of China Inspection and Quarantine Association, and exclusively sponsored by Hangzhou Tianyuan Pet Products Co., Ltd., established itself as a new benchmark for innovative pet product design with its high-caliber judging panel, international perspective, and exceptional winning entries.
The competition attracted nearly 150 creative submissions from designers, academic institutions, and corporate R&D teams across China. After rigorous evaluation by a distinguished panel of 5 leading Chinese design experts and 9 renowned international experts, 12 outstanding works were honored with top prizes, including the Grand Prize, Gold Prize, "Most Market Potential Award" and the "Most Popular Design Award" determined by public vote.

The top honors were awarded to designs that masterfully blend aesthetics with deep insights into the needs of both pets and their owners.

This innovative toy combines a retractable tape measure structure with electric drive, allowing for adjustable play distance to satisfy cats' chasing instincts while solving the storage issues of traditional teaser wands.
Hailed by the jury as an "exemplar of smart pet product design," this feeder integrates timed/measured feeding, airtight freshness sealing, and remote control. It directly addresses pet owner anxiety about feeding when away, merging technology with practical, user-friendly design and safe materials.
Focusing on pet food health and storage convenience, this packaging features moisture-proof sealing, clear nutritional labeling, and a minimalist, premium aesthetic that enhances both product identification and user experience.
This groundbreaking design extends into end-of-life care, using the "cocoon" imagery and eco-friendly, biodegradable materials to provide a dignified and warm solution for pet burial. It expands the emotional boundaries of pet design, turning farewell into "a warm allegory of life's continuation."
Simulating a natural burrow environment, this design features multi-layered interactive spaces that cater to pets' instincts to dig and hide. Made from recyclable materials, it combines fun with sustainability. Its immense public appeal also earned it the "Most Popular Design Award."
Tackling the urban environmental challenge of pet waste, this system utilizes composite bacteria for odorless decomposition of pet feces. Integrated with a smart management system, it presents an innovative solution for improving community pet-keeping environments.
"Dumbbell Dental Chew Toy" by Zhang Kang: Combines a dumbbell shape with dental cleaning functions.

"Perch. Coexistence - Human-Pet Shared Furniture" by Wen Shiman: This design breaks the norm of segregated furniture by creating multi-functional pieces (like a bookshelf with a pet nook) for shared human-pet use, maximizing space in modern homes and showing high commercial potential.
The competition's credibility was strengthened by its international jury. This "Chinese-foreign integration" team evaluated entries based on four core dimensions: Innovation, Practicality, Market Potential, and Aesthetic Value, ensuring a professional and fair assessment while integrating global design trends with local market insights. The "International Joint Defense Session" provided a platform for finalists to present their work to this esteemed panel.
The public exhibition of the entries at PSC attracted significant attention from buyers, distributors, and consumers, validating the market appeal of thoughtful design and creating a meaningful connection between creative concepts and real-world commercial potential.
"The award-winning works reflect a growing emphasis on 'deep empathy' and 'humanistic care' in contemporary design," noted a representative from the judging panel. "They point toward a promising direction for the future of pet product innovation."

As its first edition, the Heartmelting Award – PETSTAR Design Competition has laid a solid foundation as a platform linking creative design with industrial application. It aims to continue fostering original design, promote sustainable development within the pet industry, and contribute to a more innovative and environmentally conscious future for pet products.
