The Pet Industry Working Committee, which operates under the supervision of the China Association of Inspection and Quarantine, serves as the pivotal self-regulatory body within the Chinese pet industry. Its core functions include:
• Coordination: Acting as a liaison between government agencies, law enforcement agencies, the media, and enterprises to promote effective communication and cooperation.
• Industry self-discipline: Implementing self-regulatory measures to uphold ethical standards and best practices within the industry.
• Standardization: Setting and promoting industry standards to ensure consistent quality and safety across products and services.
• Promoting sustainable development: Facilitating initiatives that support the healthy and sustainable growth of China’s pet industry, enabling companies to expand on the global stage.
A notable initiative by the committee is the launch of Pet Sourcing China (PSC), a global supply chain platform designed to help Chinese pet companies access international markets. The PSC organizes international trade fairs within China and sends delegations to global events, promoting knowledge exchange and collaboration among industry professionals around the world.
In addition, the committee has played an active role in organizing events such as Pet Sourcing Fair China, scheduled to be held in Guangzhou from November 5 to 7, 2024. This exhibition aims to provide a comprehensive view of the pet supply chain, from raw materials to finished products, thus enhancing global trade opportunities for Chinese pet enterprises.
Through these efforts, the Pet Industry Working Committee plays a crucial role in promoting the standards, sustainability and international presence of China’s pet industry.
